http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TD-Paine-c2652 put in impressive performances to bring Australia A up to a solid total of 480 on day 2 of their ongoing tour match against the South Africans at the Sydney Cricket Ground, but the visitors did not show any signs of going down easy
as they kicked off their first innings on November 3.
Day 1 had seen the South Africans’ bowlers launching an aggressive assault, spearheaded by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 (5) were both
disappointing, while skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042 did not manage to contribute anything substantial, trapped lbw by Imran Tahir on duck.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c60189 (64) all chipped in with half-tons, and Australia A finished day 1 at 325 for 7, with Doolan (76*) and Paine (1*) at the crease.
The second day did not result in any more wickets for the South Africans, and Steyn, Kleinveldt, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742 were all given a turn at bowling,
alongside Tahir.
Doolan brought his individual score up to 161*, while Tim Paine registered a final unbeaten total of 60. Their unbeaten 162-run stand was the highest on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 A’s side, and got the team up to a final total of 480 by the end of 135 overs, after which
the team decided to declare their innings.
The South Africans kicked off their innings with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 appeared particularly at ease, smashing a total of eleven boundaries, while Petersen managed 5. The skipper eventually retired
hurt at 60, and Petersen was the first batsman to fall, caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Coulter-Nile-c2070 off Glenn Maxwell (11-3-35-1).
The first-wicket partnership of the match yielded 124 runs, and the South Africans finished the day with veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 (27*) and Jean-Paul Duminy (2*) at the crease, with the team at 128 for 1 by the 44th over.
