The captain of the Tasmanian team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480 won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat batting track. The start to the Tasmanian innings was not as good as their captain expected at the toss.
Jonathan Wells and Rhett Lockyear were out early. This brought captain of the team Bailey and Travis Birt at the crease. The pair scored a 54-run partnership to rescue the team and took the total to 81 runs by the 10th over.

Birt missed out on a half century and scored 47 runs off 36 balls. His innings included two fours and two sixes. Ryan got out after scoring a cameo of 25 runs from 19 balls. He hit one six in his innings and two fours.
The lower-middle order of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 struggled against the NSW bowlers and failed to score quick runs. The team scored just 19 runs off the last 22 balls which saw them ending up with 152.
P Cummins was the pick of the NSW bowlers as he took three wickets. He gave early breakthroughs to his team and grabbed the crucial wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Travis-Birt-c2707 in the final stages of the innings.
Henriques and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Clark-c2591 were the other bowlers who bowled well in the match. Henriques took two wickets whereas Clark took one wicket and did not give away many runs.
Tasmania will be disappointed with the total as they could have easily reached 170 with the platform that was laid by their middle order. They will now be hoping to get early wickets in order to trouble the strong NSW team.
