  1. I'm dissapointed Casson has been left out, maybe his more of a test match kind of guy...  never heare'd of the few in list, glad to see Tait being selected thsi time...

  2. i'm sorry but the fact is that this squad is incompetent to compete in the champions trophy, you lose~

  3. yep never heard most of dem

  4. go the black caps

  5. This squad that was announced is only a 30 man squad, to be trimmed to 15. Sometimes players are selected who have no chance to go to the final 15 , only cuz this selection in the top 30 spurs them on to do better at domestic. Shows them that theyare being noticed at their level and being considered.

Now, think Ben has given us the full squad, and this is perhaps what the final 15 will look like :

    1. Matty Hayden

    2. James Hopes

    3. Shaun Marsh

    4. Shane Watson

    5. Michael Clarke (C)

    6. Andrew Symonds

    7. Micheal Hussey (V.C.)

    8. David Hussey

    9. Luke Ronchi

    10. Brad Haddin

    11. Cameron White

    12. Nathan Bracken

    13. Shaun Tait

    14. Mitchell Johnson

    15. Brett Lee

--- I'm expecting Ponting to miss out , because of his injury to the wrist, he's not going to risk it !!

So, now as you can see , this squad is perfectly balanced and has no place for some good names like Stuart Clark, Brad Hodge, Phil Jacques, Simon Katich and Noffke.

Best of luck to the Aussies !! They'll do well , good squad .. Watson being in that squad gives it a whole new look ..

N donno whts d whole india vs aussie thng ... im an indian , n thnk that both the aussies n d indians have great teams , and very promising youngsters ..

  6. I do not think that Australia takes champions trophy seriously.

last time also ,during the champions trophy in 2006,they rested many of their main players for the  ashes series which was held next month. They may be giving opportuniteis to young players to show their talent this time.

  7. I thought Casson would be in too...

Edit - I've saved this post along with many others so I can shove them back in your face at a later date, ashish bhatia.

  8. Yes I have't heard of some of them but really no place for  Casson thats surprising and what about Marsh thats even more surprising

I think it could have been much better.  I guess Pomersbach was also good.

    Anyway Thanks for the info

Edit - But who knows may these new players are better than the 2 guys

Marsh is there Sorry my fault I missed it

  9. Doughty,Greeves and Paine are all from Tasmania and Harris is from Queensland...

Good to see them giving more youngens a go..

Surprised Tait was named in the 30 and disapointed Casson has been left out...

  10. Almost looks like the B team to me.  Taking a few new guys away to blood them (not literally I hope) in international cricket.

I wonder if Bollinger will actually get a bowl this time and I wonder if Ricky will actually go?

If Ricky doesn't go it will be interesting to see who would be the VC. Katich? Symonds?

  11. Mendis will walk all over that squad............................

  12. A Good platform to show their talent at international level to the world by including young blood  OZ bench strength is even better then some asian and african teams

  13. Some names are missing, Never mind, I will fill up the gaps.

Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke (vice-captain), George Bailey, Doug Bollinger, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Dan Cullen, Xavier Doherty, Brett Geeves, Ryan Harris, Brad Haddin, Nathan Hauritz, Matthew Hayden, Brad Hodge, James Hopes, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Ashley Noffke, Tim Paine, Luke Ronchi, Andrew Symonds, Shaun Tait, Adam Voges, Shane Watson, Cameron White

Good to see that Tait is Back (Hope he had enough rest, good player though).  Appears to me like CA is giving chance to new players. Hauritz had almost disappeared into oblivion, & I have never heard of 6 out of 30 in the list before now. Only the final team of 15 will say how good they are. Still this team appears to me as a nice mixture of experience & youth.

I am not sure that alone will enable India win, (they are quite unpredictable & mercurial). India is good enough to put up a fight for full strength of Australia. Let's see how Oz will fair against the likes of West Indies & Pakistan. After all in 50 overs anything could happen.

  14. im a sri lankan i m good fan of aussie cricket (my fav bowler is shane warne)

god luk in c.t to the aussies

(we'l try to give a gud fight)

    sri lanka vs australia finals

  15. Well it happens sometime when you have number of choices then some best player have to stand out of the scod!

  16. It's the same with all countries when they name their 30 man squad. A whole load of non-entities appear on the list, who have almost  no chance of making the actual squad.

England named such luminaries as Tim Bresnan, James Tredwell, Michael Carberry, Graham Onions, Samit Patel, Darren Pattinson, and recalled a player reputed to have walking round dressed as a mascot for the past 3 years, Simon Jones, in their squad.

Ever heard of some of those players? Some of them just about, but I haven't the faintest idea who Darren Pattinson is, which team he plays for, or what role he performs.

I would expect Australia (and for that matter England) to choose the usual suspects for the actual tournament.

  17. That is good one but we will see same squad which play against WI with Hayden

  18. yep looks like good new guys in the team

    cheers~

  19. It's a good time to blood the youngsters & i'm sure they wont disappoint.
