A currently live in England.

Just finished high school, got very good GCSE's.

I'm going to college for two years to study IT, when i finish I will be 18 years old.

Then, I plan to go and study in Australia and get my degree, then do my two years work experience, then finally move there.

But, I'm struggling on where to go.

Perth looks amazing, as does Sydney.

I've been to Sydney before, and thought it was amazing, but I have read about Perth.

I want to move somewhere with, low crime levels, friendly people, hot weather, as Melbourne's weather seems to be forever changing, and somewhere were rent is affordable.

Also, what university should I go?

I'm sure I read somewhere that I have to go to a university in like, not such a busy place, e.g, Sydney.

Help would be gratefully appreciated.

  1. The University of Western Australia is really good. My son went there . Loved it done really well and set himself up very nicely. Such an interesting State is WA Isloated from the rest of Australia Rent won't be cheap though. WA is a mining state and Houseing has gone up a lot with the price of Gold but None of the Cities are cheap for rent.

  2. Take it from someone who's lived in every state in Australia....you want to come to Perth!

Sydney used to be my favourite place ever but once I moved there I hated it, you either have to live right in the city or not at all because living in the suburbs is boring.

At the moment i'm finishing my final year of highschool in Perth and I've now lived here for two years. I think it's a great place to be. You asked for low crime rates, friendly people and hot weather. Perth's got all of that (but don't live in Fremantle lol). The only thing you won't get is low rent prices, they are very expensive because of the mining boom, but because you're going to be an international student, housing on campus should be more affordable than finding a house in the area. Yes, the university of WA is the most elite but it's also very hard to get into and it can be very expensive. Might I suggest some other great universities....

The one I want to go to is Murdoch University but there is also Curtin university and Edith Cowan University plus plenty of other private universities such as Notre Dame University. I live around the corner form UWA and the buildings are absolutely beautiful and there's such a mixture of people who go there. If you want to do things like law or medicine than yes go to UWA but if not the one's list above are also very prestigious and well known.

    Hope I helped!

    p.s COME TO PERTH!!!!!

  3. Perth or Brisbane. I love both to bits, but some people could go crazy with Perth's isolation. Brisbane is a bit bigger, but combined with the nearby Sunshine and Gold Coasts makes it a very cool place. Brisbane has decent rentals and alot of good, low crime areas. Plus the weather in Brisbane is pretty warm all year round.

  4. Sounds like you want to look at Brisbane.  But Sydney really is a great place with world class universities and lots to see and do around it.  People seem to love Perth, but feel the isolation after not too long.

  5. take a look at Wollongong Uni

great area to live only an hour and half electric train to sydney

Wollongong has great beaches, restaurants, night life shopping and lots of uni students from all over the world

  6. You should narrow down your options to two: Melbourne or Brisbane.

Melbourne: ABSOLUTELY THRIVING. If anywhere in Australia has a pulse, it's melbourne and yes perth is good but it lacks sooooo much depth and uuumph that Melbourne has because it's isolated, small (Melbourne is huge) and the nightlife, restaurants, sports events, etc etc are nowhere near Melbourne. Yes, the weather is a pain but some people love it because they see it as a chance to wear every piece in their wardrobe - gloves, scarfes, hats, boots, fancy coats etc in the winter and hot summer gear in the summer. Which is cool, trust me.

Brisbane - Smaller, but weather is everything you long for being in England. It's fun, friendly and forever sunny and beautiful. They call Brisbane the 'poor country cousin' of Melbourne and Sydney, who are like 2 big rivaling brothers. So its funky and cool, good live music and some pretty successful sports teams as well which is good.

    So the others:

Sydney - A big no no. At first, it may seem big and cool and pretty etc. But its a HOLIDAY destination - NOT a livable place. The suburbs are bland and boring, and the commute to inner city is absolutely TRETUROUS... and the prices to live inner city are sky high and simply not affordable at all for anyone, not to mention constant tourists everywhere etc etc - Overall it's just not a great place to actually live, just holiday and that's it.

Adelaide - Don't touch it with a 10 foot pole... **SHUDDERS**

Nothing to do (quite literally) the city consists of churches, churches, and more churches. And then more churches. Virtually no clubs, no pubs, no attractions, and a s*** football ground called AAMI stadium. That's it.

Darwin - No. Seriously, no. Do you like 40 degrees EVERY day, drunk aboriginals drinking all day outside the bottle shop from 9:00am, living in housing commission houses with smashed windows and stench?? Then steer WELL clear...

Canberra - nothing to do. Actually, not true: You and your friends could play monopoly on saturday night, that'd be fun...

Seriously, if you want to have awesome fun in your young years (I'm 21 myself), the eastern seaboard is the go i would say (melb, syd bris), and if I were you I would definately go for Melbourne. Melbourne is incredible and if you ever regret it, you have permission to come over and slap me in the face real hard. lol =D
