Australia Under-19s v Nepal Under-19s – ICC Under-19 World Cup 2012 – (9th Match - Group A) – Match Update
Led by a colossal century from Cameron Bancroft, the Australia Under-19s set up a sizeable total which the Nepal Under-19s were unable to chase, going on to clinch a massive 212-run victory during the 9th match of the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 Stadium in Townsville.
The Nepal U-19s won the toss and elected to field first –a decision which they would rue later, as the Australia U-19s went on to rack up a daunting total of 294, despite the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 Vishvakarma (9-1-50-2) and Pradeep Airee (5-0-39-2).
Opener Bancroft drove the team’s innings with his 125, which won him the Player of the Match award. His opening stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 Peirson (19) yielded only 31 runs, but following his dismissal in the 8th over, Kurtis Patterson (86) stepped up to the crease, and proved to be a far more able partner for Bancroft.
The two batsmen teamed up for a 159-run 2nd-wicket stand, which got their team up to 190 by the 38th over. Following Patterson’s dismissal, the remainder of the batting order put up lacklustre performances, with only Sam Hain (17) and Ashton Turner (16) managing double-digit scores. However Bancroft had laid a solid enough foundation and his team eventually posted a total of 294 by the end of 50 overs.
Following their impressive batting performance, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Harrison-c2165 Conway (6-0-15-3) played starring roles, while Gurinder Sandhu (8-2-24-1) and Alex Gregory (4-1-12-2) chipped in with supporting roles.
Barring wicketkeeper batsman Khakurel (12) the remainder of the top order failed to reach double-digits, with Airee (1), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naresh-c78656 Budayair (0), and skipper Prithu Baskota (0) giving their wickets away without much of a fight.
The team received some respite in the form of a 42-run partnership between Sagar Pun (22) and Rajesh Pulami Magar (21), but both were dismissed by Turner, and the lower order succumbed to the Aussie bowling attack without putting up much of a fight. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nepal-c2965 Under-19s eventually finished at 82, all out, by the end of 24 overs – 212 runs short of the target.
