Australia V http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760: 1st T20 – Bailey praises Australia’s death over bowling – Cricket News Update
The T20 captain of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480 lavished praise on his bowlers for performing impressively in the death overs that contained the West Indies to 150 runs in the 1st T20 of the two-match series. The match was played at the Gros Islet,
St. Lucia on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
The tourists comfortably chased down the target on the first ball of the penultimate over, with eight wickets to spare, to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Shane Watson and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 struck blistering half centuries in Australia’s successful
chase.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 was still on the crease.
Pollard who opened up in the 16th over, hitting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308 in the next over to reach 48 off just 18 deliveries. He could manage just six
runs in the last three overs to remain unbeaten at 54.
"[The bowling was pleasing] particularly given how we finished a couple of games in the one-dayers. For the guys to have responded to that, learnt what they have, come up with plans and then execute them,” said Bailey after the match, adding that the convincing
victory was quite pleasing and they will take a lot of confidence out of it.
Australia tried as many as six bowlers against the Windies last night and Bailey, standing in just his third T20 as captain, was pleased at having so many bowling options at his disposal.
“...we weren't locked in to bowling particular bowlers. Having so many bowlers in the team that was the beauty of the options I had," said Baily, who debuted for Australia earlier in February this year.
Bailey singled out all-rounder Shane Watson for praise and for his clinical all-round performance last night.
"He's so, so important to our team...His last two overs were particularly good at the death and then the clinical way he batted and the strength of clearing that fence," said Bailey.
The second and final T20 of the series will be played at the Kensington Oval,  Bridgetown on March 30, 2012.
