Australia Women v New Zealand Women – Rose Bowl, 2012/13 (2nd Match) – Match Recap – Aus Women draw level with 4-wicket win
A massive effort from centurion Amy Satterthwaite appeared to have put the New Zealand Women in a dominant position – however, led by half-tons from openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Women executed a successful chase, and levelled the ongoing Rose Bowl series, 1-1, after a 4-wicket win at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney today on December 14.
The Australia Women won the toss and chose to field first, but the performances of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sharon-Millanta-c89786 (all of whom picked up one scalp each) were overshadowed by the New Zealand Women’s powerful batting performance, as they worked their way up to a daunting final total of 288.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amy-Ella-Satterthwaite-c44145, coming in at number 3, scored her maiden ODI century – an emphatic 109.
Her second wicket partnership with Bates yielded 115 runs, and after the skipper was dislodged – run out by Coyte in the 29th over, Satterthwaite joined forces with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sara-Jade-McGlashan-c88747 (51) for a 102-run third-wicket stand.
Their combined efforts got the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Women up to 240, after which both were sent packing in successive overs – McGlashan bowled by Jonassen in the 45th, and Satterthwaite dismissed by Osborne in the 46th.
With the exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Erin-Margaret-Bermingham-c56183 (3*) at the crease, the New Zealand Women posted a final total of 288.
Having lost the first match of the series, the Australia Women appeared determined to level the series, and succeeded in making the series score 1-1 after managing a successful chase, despite the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morna-Jessie-Godwin-Nielsen-c77716 (10-0-36-3).
Openers Meg Lanning (72) and Rachael Haynes (70) established a solid foundation for their team, with a 131-run partnership. Lanning was the first to fall, dismissed via run out by McGlashan in the 19th over, but Jess Cameron (36) joined Haynes for a 38-run partnership for the second wicket.
The score climbed to 169, but the 25th over resulted in Haynes, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alyssa-Jean-Healy-c43856 (sent packing by Nielsen after a 2-run contribution).
Sarah Coyte (51*) took charge from there onwards. After her 60-run 6th-wicket partnership with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jodie-Maree-Fields-c67118 (31) came to an end with the dismissal of the latter via run out, she went on to set up an unbeaten 30-run stand with Osborne (15*), which got the team over the finish line, enabling them to reach 289 with 4 wickets and 20 balls remaining.
