Australia and England opt for different routes to World Cup 2013 - Rugby news
Australia played remarkably well during the Gillette Four Nations Campaign 2011 and are well deserved Four Nations title holders from the series and it would be wrong to say that they managed to win the series by accident, because each and every encounter
was a well fought win. This pattern repeated itself down the length of the series until they proved their strength over the remaining participating nations.
This year's series featured Wales, England, Australia and New Zealand in contention, which was the second year that four nations were taking part in the campaign. Previously, the series was known as Tri-Nations.
Wales were 2010 European Cup winners and this was the first time that they were taking part in the Four Nations, which started off in 2009. Their performance during the series was not impressive at all but their participation on the international berth was
a big step towards improving their otherwise poor recent performances. The Welsh side was happy with the big platform experience they gained despite the fact that they did not last in the series for too long.
Wales were the least favourites of the series, which had left the basic competition amongst New Zealand, Australia and England. Out of the remaining three, England has shown the biggest improvement in their overall game. Although, they started off as series'
third favourites, their persistent efforts help them end up as finalists of the campaign.
England lost the series to Australians but they have made their mark in the world of rugby league. Now, they have decided against going on a break from playing at International level, like Australia.
Australia has decided to stick to their original plan of going on a break during 2012. This has been decided because Australians are now eyeing the next big win at Rugby League World Cup which is scheduled to take place in 2013. The campaign will be co-hosted
by Wales and England.
Australia are planning to pull themselves out of the international platform games in 2012 until they embark on the World Cup 2013. They have decided in favour of it so that they can improve their game to perfection. Their idea is to shed focus from everything
else and channel all their energies towards World Cup glory in 2013. This can prove to be very beneficial for their side, because this way they will not be worried about any other international game.
Moreover, they will be spared of all the possible injuries that are quite probable once your are part of campaign.
However, there is also a flip side to it, which may be felt by Kangaroos. The contrasting idea is to continue playing to gain perfection through practice, which is England's philosophy. This way all their loop holes will be brushed aside but that too comes
with a price.
English side is awaiting for the release of 2012 international game plan as their coach, Steve McNamara and captain Jamie Peacock have stressed the importance of building on the progress made in the recent Four Nation. RFL chairman Richard Lewis issued
an assurance that he will release a full programme and said, “We'll be announcing pretty soon what the schedule will be but we haven't anything to announce yet. England will have a full schedule for sure."
England may end up having injuries and get may also get exhausted before the World Cup but they will abide by their decisions.
