http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 announce playing XI for first Test – Cricket News Update
Australia have named their playing XI for the opening Test against India, played at Chennai from Friday, naming Moises Henriques as part of the team, and passing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 fit to open the innings.
Henriques pipped off-spinner, Glen Maxwell, for the all-rounder role following impressive performances in the two warm-up games where he chipped in with both, bat and ball. The 26-year-old found appreciable reverse swing in the opening contest to grab a
quick four-wicket haul, before scoring a quick fire 33 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 A. In contrast, Maxwell managed a solitary wicket and further offered little with the bat, as his scores of 0 and 12 suggest.
It has been a sudden change in fortune for Henriques, who may not have been on the tour if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 had not decided to give up on his bowling. However, his position was cemented following an impressive Sheffield Shield season. The player is hopeful
of making the most of the opportunity.
"It has happened very quickly," Henriques said. "It wasn't really in my list of goals at the start of this first-class season. But with the situation it has sped up the process. I can't say how much I'm looking forward to the opportunity.
"It's a boyhood dream coming to life now. I lost a little bit of sleep last night just thinking about it. Hopefully the next two nights are a bit calmer but I can't imagine they will be."
The other positive development is the fitness of David Warner, who has been named in the playing XI despite missing both the warm-up games. Arthur revealed that the left-hander has worked hard on recovering from a thumb injury, and will partner Ed Cowan
at the top. This means that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 will again move down to the no.4 position.
Surprisingly, the decision to include Henriques leaves http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson.
Australia: David Warner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653, Nathan Lyon.
