The Australian selectors have announced the squad for the third Test of the Ashes series. The team saw the exclusion of the middle order batsman, Marcus North and the surprise inclusion of a left arm spinner, Michael Beer.
Amongst the other players who have been left out of the squad along with North are Xavier Doherty and Doug Bollinger. North has been unable to impress the selectors and due to his poor batting show, he has finally been excluded form the side. Doherty and
Bollinger were also dropped as they were unable to trouble the England batting line-up.
With the exclusion of these three players, Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus have a chance again to prove their place in the team. The surprise for everyone was the selection of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949.
Beer has taken 16 wickets in all of his five first-class appearances this year with the best bowling figures of 3 wickets for 39 runs. Although he has been selected, there are slim chances of Beer to be a part of the squad as no other batsman has been named
in place of Marcus North. This will give a chance to Steve Smith with his all-round capabilities.
Australia may look to go with four pace bowlers in the next match which can be a right decision considering that the team has no quality spinner. Their strength is fast bowling and that is where they can try to match England.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 will also be a part of the squad as a replacement for Simon Katich. The opening batsman is not in the best of forms and there will be immense pressure on him as one batsman has been already omitted from the middle order.
The Australian team has been trying different combinations in the bowling department but has failed to deliver when needed. Playing four fast bowlers can give them some hope and if Steve Smith can also grab a couple of wickets, it will be a bonus for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
