Australia are expected to win at home– Mark Taylor
Mark http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, the former Test skipper of Australia, has warned that the Aussies must brace for significant mayhem if the side lost the home Ashes series against England this summer saying. “Australia are expected to win at home”.
Taylor, an influential Channel Nine commentator, said that the disgrace of an Ashes defeat at home would remove the benevolence of Australian fans for the side that has already fallen to No. 5 spot on the ICC Test rankings table, a spot behind their flamboyant
Ashes rivals, England.
Under the management of coach, Tim Nielsen, chairman selectors Andrew Hilditch and skipper Ricky Ponting the side has apparently lost the sensation and the rousing command with which the mighty Aussies have once ruled the perch in international cricket.
The men from Down Under are facing the crisis that they have never even thought of and in the limelight is their beleaguered captain, Ricky Ponting.
Mark Taylor, who is also member of the Cricket Australia board of directors, feels that a home Ashes defeat this summer might prove to be the last nail in the coffin for the Australian team.
"I think it could result in upheaval, no doubt about that, I think if Australia don't win this series, and it doesn't matter if it's an Ashes series or any series in this country, Australia are expected to win at home", said the universally respected former
skipper of Australia. "If http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 lose this series, I think probably throughout the series you'll see some changes, not just at the end of it”, added Taylor.
Taylor expected that the senior players in the Australian side should be aware of the situation and would show responsible performances when the side take on England in the five-Test Ashes series next week. The former Test opener of Australia urged the Australian
players to stem the steady flow of poor sessions that resulted in losing the matches from winning positions.
"If Australia are going to win this series they've got to try to minimise those really bad days that they've had in Test matches in recent times," said Taylor. "They're playing well enough to win games of cricket against the best sides in the world, they've
just got to make sure they do all they can to turn around those bad moments, make one of them their moment and I'm sure the momentum will go their way."
The first Test of the Ashes series gets underway from 25th of this month at the Gabba in Brisbane. Australia’s recent string of poor performances, make England favourites, but one can never underestimate Australia in Australia.
