Australia beat Brazil in water polo match: Day two – 2012 Women’s Pan Pacs, Melbourne
The first match of the Women’s water polo competition concluded without any hustle, as Australia enjoyed easy win over Brazil on second day of the 2012 Pan Pacs, on Monday, January 9 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
The Australian squad made quite an impression in their foremost match, as they smothered almost all efforts of Brazilian players to score goals throughout the event. With their promising efforts, they dominated first three quarters of the match while Brazilians
managed to score only two goals in the final round.
They scored five goals in the first quarter while Brazilians stood at zero. They continued their thrilling efforts in second and third round, scoring four and three goals, respectively. On the other hand, Brazilian national team failed to show any development
of their scorecard.
In the final quarter, the home team accomplished six goals while Brazil remained successful in scoring two goals only. The match concluded with a wonderful victory of Australia defeating Brazil with a difference of sixteen goals. After the final round, the
score remained 18-2, with Australia being the winner of the match.
Subsequently, the arena experienced a furious match between Women’s team of Canada and Barbarians. Upon the start of the game, Canada remained dominant over its rival and scored three goals in the first quarter. Consequently, Barbarians notched only one
goal against them.
Canada continued its ascendancy in the second quarter, where the score remained 2-1. In the third quarter, Canadian team successfully achieved two goals while the Barbarians failed to pass the ball in their competitor’s goal.
Unlike the third quarter, Barbarians lifted up their efforts in the fourth quarter and accomplished two goals while Canada failed to secure a goal. Nevertheless, Canada won its first match with a 7-4 lead and is now arranged to contend with Australia in
their second match.
The arena enjoyed passionate efforts of all teams in their respective events. Furthermore, the session concluded after the completion of all scheduled matches whereas these teams will return to the arena for their next quests, as they seek to reach the podium
for gold medal.
