Australia bulldoze hosts Bangladesh in third ODI – Part 1
Australia have redeemed some of their lost dominance by pulverising the minnows of cricket, Bangladesh, in their own backyard.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 tigers were leading the ODI (One Day International) series 2-0 before the third match, which was played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Coming into the third match with two victories already in the bag was a big boost for the recently dethroned ODI champions. As they posted a humongous total of 361 runs on the board for the hosts to chase.
The task was difficult but not impossible as in ODIs it has been proved time and time again that no total is big enough once the team batting second takes charge of things.
But looking at the Bangladesh batting line-up, the Aussie skipper Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, the minnows were not blessed with the required depth in the batting line up to chase a formidable total.
Nonetheless, Clarke was in for a surprise as the Bangladesh openers gave their team a start, which was by all means a big threat for the Aussies.
Openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640, and, Imrul Kayes, looked at ease while facing the Aussies, who had rested their ace bowler, Brett Lee, and lacked the bite that is a trademark of their bowling brigade.
Perhaps, early on, the Australian bowlers took things a bit too lightly considering the huge target Bangladesh had to chase.
Bangladesh raced to 43 runs in 4.3 overs but that is when they also suffered the loss of their first wicket, as Iqbal heard his stumps busted by a screaming Yorker, which was too quick for the batsman to dig out. He was bowled by the left-arm pacer Mitchell
Johnson.
While it gave the Australians something to cheer about, the Mirpur crowd went silent as they saw Iqbal walk back to the pavilion. He scored 32 runs in 19 deliveries. But it wasn’t over yet and as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahriar-Nafees-c2486 came to bat, Kayes didn’t mellow down his
batting onslaught.
The two batsmen exhibited some fine stroke playing and didn’t hesitate to gamble with the on and off risky shots as well since the tally required the batsmen to take risks.
Kayes was the one, who was leading the partnership as it was quiet obvious that boundaries would have to come from the opener as Nafees was struggling to reach the boundary line. The combination was just what the doctor ordered, because while chasing a big
total, teams need to keep wickets in hand and maintain a high scoring rate.
It was this partnership that gave the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653, which easily
carried to wicketkeeper Tim Paine.
The flamboyant Bangladesh opener scored 93 runs. With him gone, the flow of runs didn’t hit rock bottom as Nafees and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 still tried taking the team over the finish line.
However, with the departure of Nafees it was over for the hosts. He was caught by Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, as he tried to clobber a slower delivery by Johnson. The one down batsman played an innings of 60 runs off 86 balls.
