Wade, the 25-year-old Tasmanian wicketkeeper batsman, had picked up an ankle injury while playing basketball with team-mates and support staff in Chandigarh over the weekend. "Matt has a complex ankle injury which has been confirmed by the scans and, at this stage, is in doubt for the third Test starting on Thursday," the team physio, Alex Kountouris, said. "A final decision on whether he will be available for the third Test will be made closer to the match."
The Tasmanian wicketkeeper batsman, who made his Test debut on the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in April in last year, has been Australia's preferred Test wicketkeeper since then. Haddin was due to leave Australia on Monday (today) to join the national Test side as standby for injured Wade. If Wade fails to recover in time from the ankle injury, Haddin will be playing his first Test in more than a year. Haddin had last donned a baggy green in January last year, when Australia played http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Adelaide.
Despite Haddin being on the wrong side of age, 35, the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 selectors are keen on having him around Australian cricket as he remained part of the limited-overs side during the summer when Wade was rested. The intention of the national selectors is quite clear, to take both Wade and Haddin to the back to back Ashes series later this year.
