Australia captain Michael Clarke wants to use long international break to improve team
Australia skipper Michael Clarke has said that his team must use the long international break until the next series to improve their performance in order to return to the top of world cricket.
Australia have recently clean swept http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in August 2011.
The 30-year-old captain said that players should use the four-month break to prepare themselves physically and mentally and improve their performances in all departments of the game.
“I've said all along, every day we get out of bed we've got to look to get better and this break we have now is no different,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 said.
He added that he would utilise this time to evaluate his own performance as well as of his team.
Under Clarke’s leadership, almost every player of the Australian team performed well against Bangladesh.
In the first match, the skipper himself scored a century while in the second ODI, Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 scored a whirlwind 185 off 96 balls which included 15 fours and a world record 15 sixes. Michael Hussey joined the party in the third ODI and scored a brilliant
108 off 91 balls including 9 fours and 2 sixes.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 have had tough times recently. They lost the 2010-11 Ashes to England for the first time on home soil after 24 years by a margin of 3-1. Every match that Australia lost in that series was at least by a margin of an innings. However, the ODI series
that followed the Ashes saw Australia turn the tables on England and beat them 6-1 in the seven-match series.
After that, Australia did relatively well in the ICC World Cup 2011 but were eliminated in the quarter-final by co-hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and could not defend their title. As a result, Ricky Ponting stepped down from captaincy and his deputy, Michael Clarke was promoted
to lead the side.
Clarke is now hopeful of getting Australia back their lost glory in world cricket. Let’s see if he’s able to do that.
