Australia scored 308 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB) XI.
A recharged and renovated Australian team has landed in Bangladesh a couple of days back under their new Captain, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, who has promised to deliver his best.
They will contest three One Day International (ODI) matches against Bangladesh during their short tour. The Australian team was knocked out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the quarter-final of the ICC Cricket Cup 2011 and their dreams of winning the trophy were shattered.
The first warm up match is being played today against Bangladesh Cricket Board XI at Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, Fatullah.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat with intentions to give their batsmen maximum match practice. The innings was initiated with their regular openers, Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and Brad Haddin.
Both openers took an aggressive start by punishing the bowlers. But after the Aussies scored 31 runs in five overs, Watson was caught by Alok Kapali off the bowling of Dolar Mahmud once he scored 13 runs.
The discarded Captain, Ricky Ponting, joined Haddin at the crease and both consolidated the innings with caution, while punishing the loose balls. The pair played positive cricket and posted a hundred runs on the board in the 19th over.
Haddin completed his fifty and they went past the hundred runs partnership mark in the 22nd over with a splendid show of batting. Ponting set aside the burden of captaincy and played his strokes freely as he scored his half century by the 25th over.
Haddin retired hurt once he scored 67 runs and soon Ponting was caught again by Alok Kapali, when the Aussie score was on 164 runs. He dispatched 69 runs off 74 balls with a six and 10 fours.
Michael Clarke and Cameron White took over but after the addition of just six runs to the total White was declared leg before wicket (LBW) after scoring just four runs.
Michael Hussey did not perform well in the recently concluded World Cup and he came in next to bring back his lost glory with the bat. Both steadied the innings, Clarke was very hostile and posted his fifty as Hussey played an anchors role the other end.
Clarke retired hurt after he scored 56 runs.
Hussey retrieved his form and made a watchful and unbeaten 52 runs as Australia managed 308 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Shuvagoto Hom was the main wicket taker with two, as Dolar Mahmud, Mahbubul Alam and Farhad Reza claimed a wicket each.
Bangladesh Cricket Board XI has to bat extremely well to win the match.
