Australia devastate Australian Barbarians in water polo match: Day five – 2012 Women’s Pan Pacs
The undefeated Australian team has devastated Australian Barbarians in their fourth match on fifth day of the ongoing 2012 Women’s Pan Pacs at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), on Thursday, January 12.
The Australians demonstrated their breathtaking efforts and claimed victory against Barbarians in their bout. Australia enjoyed an easy win over its competitor and grabbed the victory with a difference of five goals, as the score remained 8-3 after the four-quarter
game.
The Aussies dictated terms to their competitors by scoring two goals in the first quarter, where the Barbarians remained at nil and the round concluded at 2-0. The crowd was thrilled with the dominance of Australian squad, who strangled their opposing team,
leaving no room for them to score a goal.
The second quarter went just like the first round, where several efforts were made from the Barbarians to notch a goal, but all failed. On the other side, the Australian players yet again accomplished two goals and increased their lead to four goals, as
the score went up 4-0 after the halftime.
Finally, the Barbarians manage to escape all efforts of Australian squad and added first goal to their scorecard. The Australians remained consistent on their part and once again they found Barbarians’ cage twice, moving the score to 6-1 after the third
round.
The Barbarians stroke two goals in the fourth quarter, but their effort failed to bring any harm to Australian team, who was in a prominent place for victory. Nevertheless, the Australians did not stand down and achieved two goals in the final round.
The Australian victory was mainly constituted on the efforts of Ashleigh Southern and Gemma Beadsworth, who scored two goals each in the match.
In addition, the Australian squad has remained undisputed in the tournament and is enjoying a clear lead from its toughest competitor, USA, which is two points down on the overall rankings.
The Australian team is now planned to participate against China, which ranks third on the overall points table. Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all listed water polo events in Women’s corner.
