Australia won the fifth one-day international (ODI) against arch-rivals England by 51 runs on Sunday at Brisbane to seal the series 4-1.
The Aussies set the visitors a target of 250 runs after Captain Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and Brad Haddin gave their side a good start with a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. Watson was the first wicket
to fall when he was caught by Paul Collingwood off the bowling of Chris Woakes after scoring 16 runs off 20 balls. Shaun Marsh then joined Haddin at the crease. Haddin was soon bowled out by Steven Finn for 37 runs off 52 balls.
Skipper Clarke was the next batsman to join Marsh at the wicket. Both players managed to put together a 24-run partnership before Marsh was caught out by Andrew Strauss off the bowling of Collingwood after scoring just 16 runs. Stand-in skipper Clarke finally
managed to recapture his form and was the top scorer for Australia with 54 runs from 74 balls, before he was top edged one to Strauss off the bowling of Woakes.
David Hussey scored 34 runs off 46 balls and was bowled by Woakes when Australia were on 178 for the loss of five wickets in 38.1 overs. Brett http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lee-c72382 was then dismissed for a duck off the bowling of Woakes. Eventually the hosts were bowled out for 249 runs
in the final over of the innings.
England all-rounder Woakes was named man-of-the match for his brilliant performance with the ball. He picked up six wickets for 45 runs in his 10 overs.
The England innings got off to a bad start and were all out for just 198 in 45.3 overs. Openers Andrew Strauss and Matt Prior could not give their side a good start. England lost their first three wickets for just 22 runs, when Prior and Strauss were out
after scoring three and 14 runs respectively. The third wicket fell when Jonathan Trott was out for a duck off the bowling of Lee.
Ian Bell then joined Kevin Pietersen at the crease and the two steadied the innings with a useful 73-run partnership. Just as England looked as if they might get back into the game, the visitors lost three wickets in the space of just eight runs. Kevin Pietersen
was the first to go when he was caught by Lee off the bowling of John Hastings, after top scoring with 44 runs. Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell soon followed, and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Eventually England were bowled out for 198.
Watson was the top wicket taker for Australia as he took three wickets for 25 runs in 4.3 overs. Brett Lee and Doug Bollinger also picked up two wickets each for the hosts.
