  1. I disagree. It could work out quite well, not necessarily from the financial point of view, but from the cricketing point. Imagine the boost to their youngsters and upcoming players if they do get this chance. I think they should go ahead with the idea, if they can tackle the devils in their minds first.

  2. England are doing the exact same thing, at the rate its growing everyone will be doing it and it won't be special, however, England are in talks with allen stanford about a multimillion pound 20/20 game.

Answering your question, i would have to say that the ipl will not be matched because it was first in there and if australia or england decided to try it they would need to get alot of financiers and something that would draw all the international player, not to mention the gap in international cricket so that all the players could play.

  3. Heard they are all imitating IPL now it is a success.

No one was for it to start with.

May work. But will not match IPL.

  4. You obviously haven't been to a match in Australia for your crowd numbers are way out. The only time we get small numbers  like you quoted is when the game is played mid-week at a small ground, i.e. Bellerive or Manuka. We get great crowds at the MCG & the SCG, WACCA, Adelaide Oval or the Gabba.Domestic games are another matter. Who pays top dollar to watch lower ranked cricketers playing? There is too much cricket now, players with injuries are not getting enough time to heal before the next match.

Edit: Kanna is correct, we have only 22 million of population here, some cities in Europe & Asia have that many, & Australia is a big & widespread country where you can't afford to travel to every ground. I read somewhere that London's poulation is almost as big as the whole of Australia's, & that the whole of England would fit into Australia 8 times over, Go figure!

    Edit:

Anmol Dhawan, we place more importance on the lives of our children, their education & health issues than your country. It might surprise you to learn that money isn't the most important thing in life. Whilever your country places love of money before the good of it's people, you will have the continuing social problems that you do.

  5. it wont work

  6. No one can match Lalit Modi's brainy thinking.Hats off to this guy.Even if it works,it will get half-hearted response.Talking about the crowds, everyone knows what kind of attitude to expect of them.We saw it in the Commonwealth Bank Series,

especially when Harbhajan came to bowl.

  7. in terms of a cricket tournament it may be interesting provided they have got skilled players of the game.

  8. The Aussies might be making their own 20-20 league, and it might be a bit successful, but I bet it will be of no match with IPL. IPL is just amazing!!!!! Lots of retirees (Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath etc.) have said that they will only play the IPL in the entire year and try to spend the rest of the time with their families!!!

By the way, not only Australia, but England and Pakistan also are considering making a tournament like this. I bet they'll all be a big flop!!!

  9. May be u should consider the number of cricket loving people in australia with respect to the australian population. The idea may work out. But it would fit only like countries which are more populated like india.

  10. if they do it, it will only be for domestic players in Australia and retired players because there is no time for international players to join 2 IPLs. Also the Australia cricket board doesn't have enough money to make the their IPL BIG.

  11. no the should just leave the 20/20 leagues for the the indians

    stupid thing amuse small minds

aussies just will not be Interested
