http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 may bat at number three.
The three-match Test series between the two countries begins from December 14, at Hobart, with the home team looking to forget their recent defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Australia faced a setback last month, as their former skipper and legendary top-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 decided to call it a day from international cricket, on the eve of the last Test against the Proteas at Perth.
Hughes, the left-handed batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 is confident that the left-hander will not face any problems batting at the crucial number three position as he has opened the innings for Australia on several occasions in the past.
He expressed, “It's something I've been thinking about over the last couple of days and will speak to (coach) http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 about it when I get into camp. Hughesy can bat at three, Shane Watson's batted three for us and both those guys have opened the batting for Australia as well.”
The Kangaroos’ captain was adjudged as the Player of the Series for scoring two consecutive double-centuries against South Africa but there is a school of thought which believes that Clarke should bat higher up the order.
The middle-order batsman however, is not too fazed about his position in the batting order and feels that he is ready to bat at any number, which is beneficial for his side.
“I'm not sure as to where I'll bat. The number I bat doesn't bother me, it's about fitting in where's best for the team and where I can help the team have success. That's been my goal since taking over the captaincy and that won't change,” the Aussie skipper added.
