Australia likely to play four fast bowlers at Perth
Australia is pondering about playing four specialist fast bowlers in order to choke England in the third Ashes Test at WACA in Perth. Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain has delayed the act of disclosing the final eleven.
Ponting said, “I honestly feel the pitch conditions here are as foreign to English players as probably anywhere else in the world and hopefully we can exploit that this week”.
Ponting wants to have a look at the wicket, and then he will disclose the final eleven. Considering the recent times, the wicket is said to be greener than before. On previous occasions, the Australian captain has misread the WACA
wicket, as in against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 2008.
Furthermore, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 also surprised the Kangaroos at Perth on their last tour, when they successfully chased down the mammoth target of 414 runs, losing only four wickets.
Ponting is seriously considering launching his pace quartet in order to level the series. Mithcell Johnson and Hilfenhaus will definitely make a comeback after the duo were axed for the Adelaide Test. Ryan Harris was the pick of
the bowlers for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the second Test, so he will be a possible member of the squad for tomorrow. Siddle has looked good with his line and direction, though he hasn’t been able to pick up a wicket, since his six-wicket haul in the first innings at Brisbane.
Steven Smith, the all-rounder is all set to make a comeback in the Australian line-up as he played his last Test this year in July in England against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, in the absence of Nathan Hauritz. The leg spinner will play the role
of a front line spinner. Adding to this, his leg spin is backed up by his devastating batting skills. In the late order, Smith can provide Australia a decent hard-hitting option.
Michael Beer’s chances of featuring in the final eleven are slim. The left-arm orthodox slow bowler was picked for the third Test in place of left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty.
Australia is already trailing by a margin of 0-1 in the series, so if the Kangaroos go onto loose the third Test, then England will be retaining the Ashes. So far, Australia has only grabbed 16 wickets in two test matches. Scalping
20 wickets in the match will be the greatest worry for the home team as their bowling attack has lacked penetration.
The Australian captain added, “"When you've got wickets like that the ball tends to skip off that grass rather than holding on it. That's why it's important to get a good feel of it tomorrow morning and see how hard it is, and
whether there's any moisture left in the surface before we make our decision."
