Australia not calling replacement for injured Pat Cummins – Cricket News Update
The Australian cricket captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, on Sunday revealed that the selectors have decided against calling up a replacement for injured fast bowler Patrick Cummins, who was on Sunday ruled out of the England series due to an abdominal strain.
Speaking to media reporters after a six-wicket defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-McKay-c1265, all making the touring party, they have plenty of options in the pace battery.
Experienced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945, who had last played for Australia in November last year, replaced injured pacer Pat Cummins in the second one-dayer on Sunday, but failed to impress, returning wicketless after conceding 43 runs in seven overs, including four no balls as well.
Clarke however, backed Johnson’s inclusion as Cummins’ replacement and backed the left-armer to come good in the ensuing games.
"He's got good pace and he's left-arm so he brings something different,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, after the six-wicket thumping at the hands of England, in London.
“He's been high on confidence, he's been bowling really well in the nets. It's his first game back so it's going to take a bit of time. It is great to have him back around the group,” he added further.
Cummins, who had recently returned to international cricket after recovering from foot injury, sustained a side strain injury during the series opener at Lord’s on Friday. He was sore after the match and a detailed check up revealed a medium grade side-strain, after which the Australian team management decided to send him back home for a rehab programme.

Australia currently trail traditional rivals England 2-0 in the five match series. It is pertinent to mention here that a 5-0 series win will allow the Poms to dethrone the mighty Aussies as the top ranked ODI side.
The third One Day International of the series will be played at Birmingham, on Wednesday, July 4.
