Australia not mentally tough as they used to be says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HH-Gibbs-c1549 – Cricket News Update
Former South African opener, Herschelle Gibbs feels that the Australians are not mentally tough as they used to be and has backed his teammates to triumph in the forthcoming second Test match.
The Kangaroo were humiliated in the opening Test match, where they faltered abysmally on a total of 47 in their second innings, while the Proteas easily chased down the target with eight wickets remaining.
It included centuries from skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557, which shook their opponents mentally and physically and the former player has backed his teammates to put a final nail in the coffin when the two lock horns in the final deciding Test, which
will be played at Johannesburg in three days time.
"They have got the Aussies in sixes and sevens and Australia will probably be making changes to their side," Gibbs said. "I think http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 have enough experience to put the final nail in the coffin."
It has been a turbulent year or so for the once cricketing giant, and their resounding loss in the first Tests have raised serious questions regarding the management’s decision of sticking to a few senior players.
The high-profile departures of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Donald-McGrath-c60183 have handicapped the Aussies, which have seen them suffer badly.
While it remains too been seen what lays ahead, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gibbs-c60021 feels that the main drawback lies in their mental toughness, which is not strong as it used to be and believes that they can be defeated on any given day.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Rodger-Waugh-c91216 and any team that plays better than them on any given day can
now beat them. They are not as intimidating as they used to be."
For now, it will be up to skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 to regroup his lot and assure that they get back to winning ways soon or else one can see the writing on the wall for many of its players.
