2012, today, September 19, 2012.
The illustrious tournament has commenced in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, which is considered to be among the tournament favourites.
Over the last five years, Ireland has proved to be a very spirited side, with a number of talented cricketers in their ranks. They defeated Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the Caribbean and did the same with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the global tournament
last year.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, who is considered to be one of the world’s best all-rounders, admitted that the Baggy Greens are wary of the Irish threat and they are not going to take them lightly.
"Not too many guys have been talking about it but deep inside everyone knows they are a very dangerous team," Watson said. "They've got some highly skilled players and we certainly have to be at our best to make sure we dominate the
game.”
Australia are going through a rebuilding phase in the game’s shortest format and have not done that well recently, losing the three-match T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and being thrashed by England in a warm-up match on Monday.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 (two Test playing nations) in the practice matches.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s coach, Arthur, also confessed that Ireland has been playing some very good cricket over the years and they hold the potential to knockout the bigger teams. In the T20 format, he feels, no team can be categorised as a clear favourite.
"I know I'll only rest easy when that game's passed. That's not through fear of failure. They have been a giant-killer and they're playing with a quite nice bit of freedom. Any team in this competition can win if they have a good day," the coach mentioned.
