Australia or Switzy?

I'm plannin' to go to Australia or Switzerland as a Foreign Exchange student. I want to see life from a different perspective and that's why I'm going. But my problem is I'm incredibly shy. I don't want to have to stay with a family, I want to stay in a hotel. I found a 12 day program for Switzerland but I want like a 3 week program that lets me stay in a hotel. Also I can't find one for Australia??Remember I want to stay in a hotel and I want the program for Australia and Switzerland, but maily Australia. Please help me!

It doesn't sound to me like you want an exchange. It sounds like you want a vacation! If you truly want to experience the culture of the area, the best way to do it is with a homestay! If you are as shy as you say, I can't see you venturing out of your hotel room and actually talking to people! If you are with a family, you will be forced out of your shell and truly learn about the culture!

You would have no trouble staying with an Australian Family. It doesn't matter if you are shy - lots of people are shy. Australians are laid back and relaxed - it would be easy.

Remember that staying in a hotel would be just a tourist experience - staying with an Australian family would be a genuine Australian experience.
