  1. you may find it difficult to get a job in the field you want as you can only work for any one employer for 6 months on a holiday visa then you must find another employer or the rest of your visa time

usually holiday visa holders do work such as bar work, fruit picking, places where there is a big turn around in staff

as for getting your PR, your holiday visa will not help you with that, you would have to return home and apply to immigrate like everyone else

  2. For all of the answers to all of your questions on immigration to Australia, follow this link to the government site:

    http://www.immi.gov.au

  3. have you tried to go there with a group or an agency, here in my cauntry there are agencies that get you jobs there, so once you arrive you have everything planned.

As incredible as it may sound, I'm also 19 and want to travel there, but first I'm gonna finish my carear in hotel managment, I've got 2 more years and by 21 I'll move there I'm thinking of brisbane or sydney.

But you could also go there on your own, just go where the wind takes you...it could be expensive or dangerous, so be careful.

  4. A working holiday is for just that, a working holiday.  You are not entitled to take a job to further your career.  Backpackers in Australia work in bars and pick fruit to get their WH visa extended.  Sorry, but it's true.  Also, you can only work for the same employer for a three month period.  Look on www.seek.com for an idea of jobs out there.  It may be a good idea to apply before you get here, as then you will know if any employer would be interested in hiring you.  It is extremely difficult to obtain permanent residency and you are not eligible to apply from a working holiday visa.

There are no caravans you can rent in Sydney.  The cheapest option would be to live in a hostel.  There is a good one in Glebe that I know of.  Try to avoid the Kings Cross hostels if possible.

  5. Hi Keza,

Congrats mate for making a decision to visit and possibly stay in Australia. Australia's such a beautiful country. If I were you, I'd suggest:

    1. Save enough cash to live for 2-3 mths in Sydney so that this will give you time to look for places to live as well as looking for a job.

    2. Fly to Sydney with your working holiday visa, resume, all your necessary belongings..

    3. If you know anyone in Sydney, you can 'doss' (as in sleep in their couch for 1 week or so while looking for your own place. If you Don't know anyone, stay in a hostel (your cash saving should cover this if you've saved enough).

    4. While staying in hostel, look for accommodation (a share house is cheaper) as well as spamming your resume for your dream job :-).

    5. Expect to move several times (sometimes you find the right flat but not the right flatmates or the other way around). In average, people moves about 4-6 times before settling to a more semi permanent flat.

    6. Once you find your job as well as good living arrangement/flat, find out about the latest rules on applying for permanent residency in Australian immigration website.

    7. Be fully alert and aware of the potential of your employer of being able to sponsor you with a work permit to be able to work and live in Australia  (longer than your working holiday visa). You can ask your potential employer of this possibility.

Work permit will let you live and work longer in Australia which means it will count towards your residency (of how long you live in Australia). The current rule, if you've lived and work in Australia for 5 years, you are eligible for a PR. once you hold a PR for 2 years, you're eligible to be an Australian Citizen. Check the immigration website for the rules though.

The aim is to get the most of your time and possibility for a PR in Australia!

The other alternative is you might meet someone in Australia and fall in love enough to get married (but will only consider this option as a bonus :-)).

    Good luck mate!
