How is the economy in Ausrtalia? How does the pay compare with the US.?

Usually much better.  At the moment the US$ and AUD$ are pretty much the same.  There's a great public healthcare system, so insurance isn't one of our major worries.  I recently saw a show where they interviewed at lot of American workers who were astonished at the better quality of life they would have here if they were doing the same low-paid job.  If you're a top professional or something though you'd probably find the wages lower, but the quality of life better.

Well I'm not an aussie, but I do know that Australia is doing very good these days and a lot of Brits and Scottish folk are moving there permanently. And if you are looking to move somewhere due to financial hardship, then I would suggest Canada, your northern neighbor. Same culture, same language (with a cute accent), and a robust economy.

(b.t.w. did you know that Calgary, Alberta has around 50, 000 Americans living here?).
