New Zealand’s cricket team put up a valiant effort to prevail over Australia in a Test match played at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. It was a low scoring game that the touring side won by seven runs.
With the victory, Kiwis came to level terms with the hosts but despite drawing the series, Aussies retained the Trans-Tasman trophy, as they were the defending champions.
Australians were set a target of 241 by New Zealand. Chasing the total, the Kangaroos got out for 233 in their second innings. Apart from Warner, no one really stood up to New Zealand’s bowling. The left-hander remained unbeaten
on 123, but unluckily ran out of partners at the other end. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822, number 10 batsman, tried his best to give support to Warner but ran out of gas just before the finish line.
Warner, who was declared Man of the Match for his efforts, was absolutely gutted by the loss. The left-hander said, “Disappointing to get so close and not finishing it off. Credit to New Zealand. Nathan Lyon would be disappointed
but at the end of the day, its cricket, and we'll learn from it.”
The Australian team totally dominated the New Zealanders in the first game of the series played at Brisbane, winning the match by a staggering nine wickets. The tourists looked down and out, in this game as well, especially after
getting bowled out for 150 runs in the first innings and with their ace spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 not playing in this game due to a hamstring injury.
However, in this hour of need, Kiwis bowling brigade stepped up and dislodged the oppositions for a mere 136 in the first innings. The Black Caps batting collapsed in the second innings as well, thus setting a target of 241 for
Australia to win.
The Kangaroos started off in a blazing fashion with Warner and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 posting 72 runs for the first wicket. The second wicket partnership of 50 runs was quite handy as well but the balance turned in Kiwis favour afterwards
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Doug-Bracewell-c1394 raised havoc upon the Aussie batsmen.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and has urged his side not to repeat
such mistakes during that series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 said, “Disappointed, no doubt. We were pretty inconsistent throughout this Test. Right now, it's about being with the team and working on the pros and the cons. We want to be 100% ready for the Test against India.”
