Australia reveals its test match schedule for June 2012 against Scotland and Wales
The Australian Rugby Union has revealed its schedule of test matches to be played in June 2012. The Wallabies will play four tests in the middle of next year against Scotland and Wales. The managing director of Australian Rugby Union, John O’Neill, revealed
the timetable to local journalists on November 4. Australia will kick off their next years’ test campaign against Scotland on June 5, at Newcastle's Ausgrid Stadium.
The two sides will be meeting in a test match after quite a while. Previously the teams stood neck-to-neck in 2009 and the competition was won by Scotland. Australia has not had any test against the Scots in the last two years and the clash will provide
them an opportunity to revive their splendid victory against the European side. Earlier, Wallabies had enjoyed an unbeaten 16 matches winning streak against them.
In the second phase of their same month’s schedule, Wallabies will play three matches against Wales. Australia will host that series on its own soil, starting from June 9, at Suncorp Stadium. The second will be played at Etihad Stadium during next week while
the third and last clash will be held at Sydney Football Stadium.
ARU managing director John O’Neil declared the series very crucial for his team. He argued that, "I'm delighted too that Wales will be that opponent in 2012. I think all Australians understand what the Welsh are capable of in terms of exciting and attacking
Rugby. They were unfortunate to lose to France in the Rugby World Cup semi-final, after playing with 14 men for most of the game, and they were certainly difficult opponents for the Wallabies in the Bronze Final.”
O’Neil further stated that, “A return to a three-Test series as we will play against Wales is an opportunity to build anticipation, excitement and momentum during the course of the tour.”
The Wallabies schedule of June 2012 tests has been finalised as following.
