Australia set fighting total for England in second Twenty20
Second T20I: Innings break – Australia 147-7 (Aaron Finch 53*, David Warner 30)
Australia have set England a formidable total in the second Twenty20 international being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The hosts, who are trailing 0-1 in the two-match series, were off to a scintillating start with the two openers Shane Watson and David Warner scoring runs at nearly 10 runs per over.
The first wicket to fall was that of Watson who struck two sixes in his 17-run knock before falling to Chris Woakes. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326’s demise was a big blow to the hosts as the all-rounder was the star of the first game in which he scored a quickfire half-century.
Wicketkeeper batsman Tim Paine scored 21 runs off 12 balls hitting a brace of fours and a six before falling to Graeme Swann. Warner fell soon afterwards when he was caught by Kevin Pietersen off the bowling of Michael Yardy. He scored 30 off 26 balls including
three fours.
Australian skipper Cameron White was sent packing for a duck which was his second failure as the new captain of the team in the shortest format of the game. Graeme Swann sent him packing with a straight ball which caught his leg before wicket.
David Hussey was another disappointment he scored only 8 runs before offering a catch to Chris Woakes off Yardy.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Finch-c881 and Steven Smith added 51 runs for the sixth wicket before Smith was dismissed by Ajmal Shehzad for 13 runs.
Finch continued his impressive display and scored his maiden half-century for Australia in only his second Twenty20 match. He cleared the ropes with ease throughout his innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 finished with 147 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs. England will have to be careful in the run chase, as the wicket is assisting the slow bowlers.
