Australia slump deeper
The Australian team is still in search of a victory in any form of the game but their opponents have denied them any kind of success in recent past. After losing the Ashes to England, Australia hoped to start afresh in the Twenty20s but their progress was
halted by England yet again.
The Kangaroos have lost last five of their Twenty20 matches whereas the English team has won their last five. These figures sum-up the recent form of Australia. They were the finalists of the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup but there has been a massive decline in
form for them since then.
There have been some individual performances by players but they have not proved to be good enough for the team to win matches. Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 scored 59 runs and took four wickets in yesterday’s encounter but his efforts went in vain after the visitors clinched
the victory off the very last ball bowled in the match.
The Australian team has been almost invincible in the world of cricket for almost the last two decades and no team has been able to match their success. The team looked very strong in the start of 2010 but a sudden dip in form was shocking for the players
and the fans.
The team wasn’t able to win the Test series against a weak Pakistan side in England last summer. After winning the first match of the series convincingly, they were defeated in the second match and the series was leveled at 1-1.
Before the start of the Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, both the teams played two Twenty20 matches as well but the result was not as good as the Australians would have liked. The team lost both the matches to Pakistan and won just one out of four matches
played in the series.
The poor form continued for Australia when they played two Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, in India. The team lost both the matches and lost their number one ranking in Test match cricket.
After that, the team vowed to regain the Ashes from England and there were claims of a whitewash series win against England. However, Australia were on the recieving end this time and struggled throughout the series.
The continuous bad performances by the team led to severe criticism by the fans and the former cricketers. Ricky Ponting was criticized for his form and captaincy but the team didn’t manage to win under Michael Clarke’s captaincy in the final Test match
as well.
Clarke’s retirement from Twenty20 cricket saw a new leader for Australia in Cameron White. Although White came close to a win in his very first match as captain, he wasn’t able to actually win it.
Former Pakistan captain and legendary batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 didn’t criticize the Australian selectors and the captaincy. However, Miandad had his own views on the sudden decline in form for the Kangaroos.
According to Miandad the quantity of Twenty20 cricket had hurt the once dominant Australian team badly. He also blamed the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the current situation of the Australian team.
According to Miandad, many Australian players retired early from international cricket giving preference to money over national duty. He said that IPL has distracted the players from their original duty.
There have been several changes made to the captaincy role in the current series of England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 but each time the Kangaroos have failed to win, or even put up a good performance in their matches. This indicates that the problem is beyond captaincy.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 once dominated all the other teams in the history but they are no where near the team that they used to be in the past. It is high time for Australia to reconsider their strategies and solve their issues before it's too late.
