Australia start http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 tour with 90-run win over BCB-11: Cricket news
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 completed a dominant win over the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)-XI in a tour match, at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday. The Kangaroos won the match by 90 runs after they restricted BCB-XI to 218 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
Australian captain Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 elected to bat first after winning the toss and his team didn’t disappoint him. The wicket was dry and there wasn’t much assistance for the bowlers in it. However, the ball started to grip from the surface as the game progressed.
All-rounder Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and wicketkeeper batsman Brad Haddin started the innings for their team on a positive note. However, the star all-rounder failed to capitalise on the start he got to his innings, as he was dismissed after scoring 13 runs off 12 balls.
Australia’s first-drop Ricky Ponting then walked out to the middle and batted sensibly alongside Haddin. The pair put together 95 runs for the second wicket, before the keeper batsman was retired hurt for 66. The aim was to give some batting practice to the other batsmen as well.
The veteran batsman Ponting got out after scoring 69 runs off 74 balls. He struck ten fours and one massive six in his marvellous knock. Cameron White was the next man to follow, as he got out after adding just four runs. He wasn’t able to make an impression in the recently concluded ICC World Cup and continued his poor run of form in today’s match.
However, the freshly appointed Australian captain, Michael Clarke batted brilliantly for his 55 runs off 56 balls. He was also retired hurt, allowing the lower middle-order to get some batting practice.
Unfortunately for the visitors, the lower order batsmen were unable to score too many runs, but star batsman Michael Hussey stayed at the crease until the end. He remained unbeaten on 69 off 55 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes, guiding Australia to 308 in their allotted 50 overs.
Shuvagoto Hom was the pick of the bowlers for his team, as he didn’t give away too many runs and picked up one wicket.
In reply, the hosts lost both their openers Mithun Ali and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raqibul-Hasan-c84039 staged a fight back for their team, as they scored a terrific 149-run partnership for the third wicket. They scored 68 and 65 runs each before getting out.
However, the lower middle-order failed to make an impression, and the home team could only manage 218 runs for the loss of seven wickets until the end of their innings.
John Hastings was brilliant with the ball, as he took four wickets in the match for the Kangaroos.
