Australia has bowled out W.Indies for 387 to win the 3rd test in the Caribeann. Clark & Casson both got 3 wkts & Lee 2. So what do you think, has Australia still 'got it'?

  1. have we still got it? honestly, yes and no, yes we still have it, but at the moment "it" isnt as strong as it used to be, but then again, how can you lose guys like Martyn, Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath & Langer and still be as strong as you once were straight away, its not as strong as it used to be yet, but we will build up again, dont we always

  2. I believe they will survive the loss of Warne & McGrath, but yes, the spin Q is the one big worry they have

  3. Yes, Australia are still the best, but they are slowly coming back to the pack. I think this series has been a good test for them. They have proved they can win without McGrath and Warne. It has been a steep learning curve for Johnson, but he certainly shouldn't be dropped just because he has struggled in this series. As a young bowler, he will be inconsistent, and Australia should stick by him.

Of more concern to Australia is the spin question. Casson didn't look great, but it is only his first match. He needs to be given an extended run in the team, and his position evaluated after 10 or 12 games.

Batting-wise, there could be a problem at the top of the order when Hayden is fit. Jaques is the long term replacement for Langer, and has done nothing wrong in his career so far. Katich cannot be dropped after the performances he has put in.

So yes, Australia have more going for them than against. Although the cracks are starting to show, no other country seems to be putting their hands up and saying "we will challenge you" with the exception of India. And they themselves could soon be a team in transition, with the middle order due to retire en-masse over the next couple of years, and Kumble of practically a geriatric in cricketing terms.

  4. Not as good....but still good enough

  5. Poor Hayden, he takes a break for a couple of matches and people are talking about replacing him.   I don't think this happens in other teams.  It tells you about Australia's bench strength and is a better  indicator of  whether Australia is still good?

  6. They are still one of the best teams in the world but this is a period of change and it remains to be seen whether they can find decent, long-term replacements for Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath and Hayden and Ponting when they retire.

  7. Yes mate it wasa great day of play from our 'new' boy,Casson..

A very big congrats to him..He will be 'stocked' he got 3/86 in his debut match..Well done Beau!!..

Also congrats to Stuart Clarke for also getting 3..He finished with figures of 3/58....It was a very close match and a very lucky win by our boys...

I just want to say a big Congratualtions also to Shiv Chanderpaul for becoming only the 4TH West Indian to reach 8,000 Test runs...Well done to him,he and Brian Lara,Sir Viv and Sir Garfield Sobers are the only Windies to do it,so well done to Shiv also....

Have We Still Got It?-You bet ya bottom dollar we still got it babyxxx

  8. i think we are still the best beit the packs closing in fast

  9. No doubt!  Aussies still rule!

  10. The main difference between Australia and other teams is that some player comes good at crucial time either to win the match or to save the match for Australia.  In the just concluded test also Australia were in deep trouble after loosing 5 early wickets, when Andrew Symonds and Haldin rescued them from trouble.  On the last day,, new comer Casson joined the party with Clark and Brett Lee and won the match for Australia

  11. NO !! ...........only joking there still good lol

    .

  12. they will struggle on the sub continent and maybe in england but will be tough in oz-but really world cricket standard is still well below par

  13. They're still setting the standard for all the others to aspire to. Just shows you how far ahead they were before Warne, McGrath &Co left. I'm not convinced by Casson yet, but he deserves another chance. The big question is: do they need to recall Hayden, or can you put him out to pasture?

  14. We still have the batting quality - Especially with Hodge not being able to get in the side and Katich only there 'coz Haydos is out.

Bowling is the area where we no longer dominate, in fact I'd rate us 3rd equal with Pakistan, behind India and South Africa in the bowling stakes.

If we can just find a good spinner then it will possibly change.

  15. no... if u compair to privous team of australiea then u'll miss 3 best boweller mcgrath, gelespie, brett lee and warne they have best bowlling attack at that time........

now they have lee and other who will perform few match.....

  16. No.  They should have got them out for less than 200.  The bowlers don't put enough pressure on and made Chanderpaul look like a world beater.  If Aust played sth africa now,  the latter would win.
