Australia struggling yet progressing – Opinion
After nearly three decades of complete domination, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to take care of before achieving their top status.
The former invincibles in Test cricket are having a tough time in their ongoing Test series against their mightiest rivals the South Africans. However, one needs to remember that the Aussies did manage to draw the first Test, proving themselves worthy of their opponents.
With only three Tests in the series, it is imperative for the Australians to regain momentum and subdue the South Africans.
Playing in their own backyard means they have the advantage on their side. However, the Proteas are not a team that can be bullied around, and before coming to Australia, they knew what they were getting themselves into.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978’s men need a solid plan and trying to dominate the South Africans might work for a while but we all know that the Africans are not going to let that happen for long and would eventually counter the hosts.
With the departure of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Lawrence-Hayden-c75233, the Aussies have lost a phenomenal opening pair and ironically they are still searching for a permanent replacement.
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 is another great inclusion in Australia’s young batting contingent, he still has not managed to cement his place in the Test squad.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 is just what the doctor ordered. The two batsmen are explosive and once they get going they can rip apart the mightiest of bowling attacks in today’s cricketing world.
Yet we have not seen this combination in the ongoing series against the Africans. Watson was expected to make a comeback in the second Test, but he has been left out and there were calls for axing Warner as well because he had failed to show something worth mentioning in the first Test.
However, the left-handed batsman gave a belligerent performance at Adelaide by smacking 119 runs to shun his critics.
His century came after a dry spell, but just at the right time when Australia had lost three quick wickets in the first session and were clearly heading for a train wreck.
Had Warner not jabbed this innings, Australia might have been doped by their opponents well before the end of the first day.
Australia, however, need players who can be depended upon and Warner is perhaps one of such individuals who can be big for Australia in the coming days.
The Golds need a few more players like him, who would drive the Australian team into the next decade of glory, or else the Australians might never see themselves rise at the top.
As of now, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472 and see no reason why they can’t achieve the same once again.
