Australia take the lead closer to 400
The post lunch session was dominated by Michael Hussey who completed his century. The session before tea was interesting as it saw some runs and wickets as well. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was looking strong in the first half before England struck with some quick wickets
before tea.
Hussey started the session with Steve Smith and both the batsmen batted positively making a fifty partnership to put Australia in a very strong position. Smith lost his wicket getting caught down the leg side off the bowling of Chris Tremlett. He scored
36 runs before getting out and gave a 75 run stand to Australia alongside Hussey.
After Smith, Brad Haddin; one of the in-form batsmen for Australia, walked out to the crease. Haddin showed his intent early in his innings when he swept Graeme Swann's delivery over midwicket for a massive six.
Things were looking promising for Australia until the English bowlers struck and claimed four quick wickets. From 252 for four, Australia was 284 for eight. Hussey remained calm in this situation and kept on marching towards his century. He was on 96 before
he struck a four to Steve Finn to reach his hundred.
Hussey was well supported by Peter Siddle who faced 22 balls until tea and remained unbeaten. The match will proceed after the tea session with Hussey and Siddle looking to take the Australian lead to over 400.
The English bowlers will be happy as they had a better session compared to the first session. Although the Australian batsmen have taken the lead closer to 400, the bowlers did grab a few wickets in this session and will be looking to wrap up the Australian
innings as soon as possible.
England had taken the new ball in the 83rd over but both Hussey and Siddle managed to survive the only over bowled with the new ball before tea. The over was bowled by James Anderson who would have liked to grab one more wicket for England before
tea.
There is still plenty of time left in the test match and both teams would have that on their mind. Australia looks set to post a big total and will try to put pressure on the Englishmen. England on the other hand, ended the session on a high with 4 quick
wickets and will be looking to wrap up the Aussie innings as soon as possible. Also, with the depth in the English batting, it is likely that they'll match the Aussie lead and eventually try to save the test match.
