Australia thrash New Zealand in Group A match – ICC World Cup 2011
Australia has won their second game of the ICC World Cup 2011. The current champions thrashed their arch rivals, New Zealand, by seven wickets.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 team collapsed for 206 runs in 45.1 overs. Nathan McCullum topped the score card with his gutsy 52 runs. His innings had three fours and he faced 76 balls. The Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori played a sensible innings of 44 runs off just 43 balls.
The Aussie pace duo of Shuan Tait and Mitchell Johnson shared seven wickets. Tait rattled the opposition with his sheer pace and bagged three wickets in his seven overs. His economy rate was on the higher side and he conceded five runs per over.
Mitchell Johnson is having a good tournament and he bamboozled the opposition with his variety. Johnson bowled 9.1 overs and claimed four Kiwi wickets. He was very economical and just gave 33 runs for his exceptional bowling spells.
The right arm quickie, Brett Lee, the all-rounder Shane Watson and the part time spinner Steven Smith took one wicket each.
While chasing the target of 207, the Aussie openers played a flashy innings. Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and Brad Haddin took full advantage of the wayward Kiwi bowling and played all around the park.
The openers had a 133 run partnership before Haddin got out after scoring 55 runs. He paced his innings pretty well and faced just 50 balls, his innings had eight fours.
Hamish Bennett took the wicket of Haddin, as he caught by James Franklin at deep midwicket. It was a comical dismissal as he miscued his pull shot off a slower bouncer.
Soon after his dismissal, Shane Watson got an inside edge off the bowling of Bennett and that disturbed his stumps. He scored 62 runs of just 61 balls, and his innings had six fours and a huge six.
The out form captain, Ricky Ponting, could not capitalize on the opportunity to wrap up the game and got out cheaply. He scored 12 runs, before Tim Southee perished his innings.
Ponting got stumped out by the vigilant wicket keeper, Brendon McCullum, who removed the bails very quickly. Michael Clarke and Cameron White played sensibly to ensure an easy win for Australia.
