Australia has thumped the West Indies in the opening One-Day International of their series. Ricky Ponting’s side finished their 50 overs at 8-256 and the West Indies were dismissed for 143 in the 35th over.

    We all knew they were in trouble at 3-12 in the fifth over with Chris Gayle already back in the pavilion. It was then just a matter of the size of the victory.
