Question:

Australia to push for suspension of Zimbabwe?

Following on England & S.Africa's cutting of ties with Zimbabwe cricket, CA are planning to call for the suspension of ZC from international cricket. NZ has also indicated it will follow suit.India is the only country who will support Zimbabwe, which is typical. Why do they always have to go against the rest of the world, & shouldn't they back off this time?

  1. I strongly feel that politics should not be mixed with sports.  Though there are lot of controversy regarding  re-election of Mughambe as President of Zimbawe, the fact remains that he has been sworn in as President.  When Zimbawe people do not have any objection  for his ruling the country, why should other countries interfere in the matter.

  2. I'M NOT sure is this correct?                I'm to understand Magabe lost the initial elections so he beat up his BLACK opponent who is now in the dutch embassy .He also withdrew  as a opponent to stop Magabe beating and killing his own BLACK people.  I'M NOT SURE IS THIS CORRECT?                                             Bingalee,I agree with you 100% and like someone else said Why Didn't the world boycott the olympics in China.LETS PLAY SPORT NOT POLITICS.

  3. BCCI has done the right thing and i support them.

Zimbabwe should not be banned from international cricket for political reasons.

Why don't Australia and England withdraw from the Beijing Olympics if they care about human rights? Is it just because China is a superpower and Zimbabwe is a poor nation?

  4. We shouldn't mix cricket with politics, it just isn't right!!! Zimbabwe is a good cricketing nation and they have produced great cricketers like: Heath Streak, Andy Flower, Grant Flower, Tatenda Taibu etc. Their cricket board is struggling and they need our help and we shouldn't turn our backs on them.

(Have u noticed: Why dosen't USA invade Zimbabwe like they invaded Iraq?? The situation in Zimbabwe is the same as it was in Iraq. Maybe because there is no OIL in Iraq!!!)

  5. INDIA always do the best thing

  6. wonder why should Zimbabwe Innocent cricketers should be banned,...~

i agree with one of the above answerer's100% ,.. that,..BCCI has done the right thing and we  support them.

Zimbabwe cricket future should not be banned from international cricket for political reasons.

  7. Interesting...I wasn't aware that India was the only nation to support them.

I think we are doing a good thing by this. Like Rehman Bhai said, this is very similar to the Tibet crisis. If Australia is so concerned about human rights, why don't they boycott from the Beijing Olympics?

I just don't see the logic behind putting sanctions on Zimbabwe. It's not like Mugabe will stop whatever he's doing. They might go communist.

I feel for the people of Zimbabwe and the cricketers. They're dreams may be shattered due its political condition.

You just can't mix politics with cricket. It's just a sport.

What will happen if Zimbabwe still plays? Nothing. They have every right to play, they are humans also. By suspending them for the international cricket it will just erupt more violence.

Zimbabwe need urgent help, they are going through a big inflation crisis also.  United Nations should take action.

Please try and understand my point of view. India is not going against the rest of the world, just doing what they think is right.

  8. I think Australia,England and Sth Africa are all doing the correct thing..

It is hard as we all know the c**p that is happening over in Zimbabwe is because of the corrupt Mugabe government..

A very sensible idea i would say..

I am not getting into India's exclusion..

    Not going there at all!!..LOL

  9. Dear Madam Bingalee,

One needs to consider why China with their dismal human rights record in Tibet were not banned from Olympics.

I remember, Ravii had once placed a poll where I suspect only she and me felt that we should oppose China.

The logic for banning Zimbabwe for their poor human rights record and not China by some nations, escapes me. To me it reeks of hypocrisy.

Sorry if you didn't like my answer.

    Rehman

P.S: I would have the same response for Pakistan as well.

EDIT: I see, OK. Thank you.

Yes it is me Rehman of Multan.

EDIT2 : I did not know the stance of either India or Pakistan in this matter.

I would rather that Pakistan oppose China, but, then living in USA I know where my chair, table, bed, TV, music system..etc etc..are coming from.

People here are too busy living  "La vie en rose" to care.

    A pity.

I support my simple and poor buddhist brothers in the land of Tibet.

EDIT3: If the Tibetans living in asylum here are to be believed, the Chinese govt are doing no worse. Only thing, visibility is poor through the Bamboo curtain.

  10. I can answer this. the only reason a boycott is being placed on zim, is not because of zimbabwe. but rather the politics that surround the entire region.

you see in both south africa, whites only number 20% of the entire population, but they own majority of the land ( 80%).

Just because the whites are so called "being affected' by mugabe's rein, is the only reason, and also because the chief of their cricket board is a blackman.

Yes south africa now, white players outnumber black players. The whites there attend the top private schools and have the state of the art facilities, but yet the blacks struggle in townships with nothing.

This is also to discredit south africa from hosting the 2010 world cup, as football or soccer is the majority sport, but since whites only number 20%, they dislike it because it has a majority black following.

The SA national football team only has 1 or 2 white players- and dont tell me black players arent good enough.

Thats why mbeki doesnt want to say anything, he disagrees with mugabes regime, but the leader of the national party in south africa, a white afrikaner, makes public statements to denounce mugabe, why is that?

A simple reason, white souls are being affected, there should be no sport boycott, as a transformation is being undergoing in zimbabwe for some time.

Many whites in zuid afrika dislke the 2010 world cup from being hosted in SA, but countries economically worse off such as brazil and Mexico have hosted it.

South africa and zimbabwe have hosted the ICC 2003 world cup; SA has hosted rugby...but when football or 'soccer' is on the menu, they see black. The whites there cant accept whats going on, so they distort crime figures.

The only reason south africa has such high crime figures is because the previous government, i.e. apartheid government did- they made it hard for the blacks, now when the tables have been turned, and KARMA has caught up with them, then they complain.

South africa is experiencing power cuts. the whites blame the ANC, but listen to this; for 40 years whites ruled there and only catered for 20% of the population (blacks didnt have power then), but yet when the population is expanding they ridicule the anc.
