Australian skipper, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, has stated that Brad Haddin’s place in the Australian team is not under jeopardy and the wicket-keeper batsman will continue to be the number one choice in Tests, considering he is fit and makes
himself available for selection.
Clarke has also clarified that he does not hold anything against the youngster, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, who has been keeping the wickets on tour of West Indies, in place of Haddin.
The Australian skipper believes that the trip of the Caribbean lands will be a good learning phase for the 24-year-old Tasmanian and was sure that Wade will not let the desire to improve his cricket fade.
Clarke said, “In my opinion Brad will come back into the Test side when fully fit and available. That's certainly nothing against Wadey. He learned a lot during the one-day series through facing spin in completely different conditions
to what he was used to back in Australia.”
Clarke continued, “He (Wade) will continue to get better - that's for sure. Having the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 around, when we can, will certainly help him.”
Haddin, who became Australia's number one wicket-keeper after the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 withdrew his name from
the series owning to some family matters.
Wade became the voice behind the stumps in Haddin’s absence. The youngster has done a reasonable job with the gloves but his batting was not up to standard in ODI’s and Twenty20.
In the three Tests so far, Wade showed signs of improvement however, he has yet to score big and it is something the wicket-keeper batsman will be looking to accomplish in the third Test at Windsor Park, Dominica.
At stumps on day-one, Australia was 212 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Wade was still in the middle with 22 runs to his name and will have to play a big innings if Australia are to post a decent first innings total.
