Australian cricket team received a setback ahead of the third Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, which will start from Monday, April 23, as James Pattinson, the 21-year-old pacer from Victoria, and Peter Siddle have been ruled out
of the remaining tour of West Indies and will not be available for selection at Windsor Park, Roseau, as they’ll be flying back home.
Apparently, both the cricketers are suffering from back injuries and Team physiotherapist Kevin Sims held that they do not want to risk further injuries by playing them. Cricket Australia has not named any replacement for the two
pacers.
Pattinson complained of having pain in lower part of his back on the third day of second Test match against West Indies at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain. The pacer looked in discomfort while throwing the ball.
Sims kept a close eye on Pattinson, who missed the earlier part of the West Indian tour due to a left-buttock strain which he picked during the Commonwealth Bank tri series. The team physiotherapist revealed that the injury is
not of a serious nature, but the pacer won’t be ready to play in the third Test.
He said, “ James Pattinson had an episode of acute low back pain after fielding and throwing awkwardly late on day three of the second Test. Initial investigations suggest that while the injury is not serious there is insufficient
time for him to recover to play in the 3rd Test match.”
Siddle, on the other hand, did not play in the second Test match, which ended in a draw. The 27-year-old was already ruled out of the match at Port of Spain on account of a back injury, and scans have shown some signs of lower
back-bone stress.
Speaking on the decision to send Siddle back, Sims said, “Peter Siddle developed some back soreness late in the first Test and scans conducted in Trinidad showed the early signs of a low back bone stress injury. We feel that it
is in Peter's best interest to return to Australia to rest and for appropriate physiotherapy to ensure he is fully fit.”
