Australia v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750: Jason Gillespie in favour of Nathan Lyon for Perth Test – Cricket News Update
Former Australian cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Neil-Gillespie-c66461, has laid support for the retention of Nathan Lyon for the third Test match against India at Perth.
The pitch at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 Cricket Association (WACA) seems to favour pace bowling, and this may prompt selectors to go for an all-pace attack. But despite the odds stacked against Lyon, Gillespie is confident of a good show
from the off-spinner and has urged selectors to give him another chance to have a go at the Indian batting attack.
Gillespie said, “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 will be tempted to play four seamers in Perth. It will be a close call on Nathan. I usually like to see a spinner in the XI. Spinners get wickets with drift and bounce in Perth, and Lyon would use the
breeze well and get good bounce using flight and his height.”
So far Lyon hasn’t been impressive in the series. The off-spinner has taken only two wickets from two Tests at an average of 90.

Australian selectors are caught in a selection predicament, trying to figure out their best bid for the Perth match. Aussies have a lot of options at their disposal and Pattinson’s absence has opened doors for Ryan Harris, who
is now assured of a place in the final XI.
The battle for the final spot is between Mitchell Starc and Lyon, and Gillespie reckons such selection problems are good for the Australian team.
The Aussie pace machine said, “You have Ryan Harris; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 with the left-arm variation, who hasn't done a lot wrong in his two Test matches; Siddle; and Hilfenhaus. It is a really good problem to have for the selectors.”
