Australia v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 delighted with his efforts- Cricket News Update
Virat Kohli, the Indian middle-order batsman, was thrilled at scoring his maiden Test century in demanding circumstances, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the Adelaide Oval, when others around him were losing their heads.
The young batsman made an impressive 116 in the first Indian innings in the fourth and final Test match. His century was the first by an Indian in the Test series. Even after his valiant effort, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 272, giving Australia a
lead of 332.
Kohli had to endure a lot of pressure before the batter got to his maiden Test century. Australian cricketers tried to get under his skin repeatedly by sledging the middle-order batsman.
The 23-year-old kept his cool and adopted a different approach. He did not let the Australians get on top of him; instead he spoke his mind and gave them a taste of their own medicine.
Delighted to win the battle against the Australians, Kohli said, “They sledge when they get frustrated. To give it back verbally and then score a hundred is even better. I mean, we don't go out there to take any kind of stuff from anyone. We are international
cricketers as well. They should know that. We need to let them know that. Be it in any way. By talking and by performing. It's much more satisfying.”
Kohli has been the lone fighter from the Indian team in last two games. The right-handed batter looked good to score a hundred in third Test match at Perth as well, but he did not receive any help from his partners and got out after scoring 75 runs.
He faced similar circumstances at the Adelaide Oval as well. Commenting on the two situations Kohli said, “After tea, we lost two wickets in two balls again. I was pretty frustrated at that point of time. That something like Perth shouldn't happen again.
When I got the 100th run, I was on cloud nine. Starting your cricket as a young kid, you always dream of achieving a Test century, and that first one is always the most special.”
