Australia v Pakistan – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 2012 (23rd Match - Group 2) – Live Score and Match Update – Pakistan set Australia 150-run chase
Australia’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 resuscitated the team’s innings, and enabled them to post a final total of 149 in their ongoing match
against Australia, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, today on October 2.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s place in the semi-finals of the ongoing World T20 is all but secure, unless they lose today by a devastatingly large margin. The team is as yet unbeaten in the competition, and comes into their final Super Eights game with a wealth of confidence.
Pakistan, however, have a lot to play for, and will need a massive win if they are to have a hope of making it into the knockout stage, having won only one of the two Super Eights matches they have played so far.
Australia won the toss and elected to field first, as they had done in their previous match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755,
meanwhile, made one change to their line-up, bringing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Arafat-c98241.
The Men in Green opened their innings with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248 (14), but both batsmen were ineffective at the crease, and Starc (4-0-20-3) dealt Pakistan an early blow in the second over, trapping the skipper lbw.
Nasir Jamshed (55) was the next man up to bat, but his partnership with Nazir had only reached 24 runs before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480 at mid-off.
With Pakistan looking shaky, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamshed-c66276 and wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal (32) took up the challenge of reviving the team’s innings, and set up a solid 79-run partnership for the third wicket. Doherty (4-0-27-1) finally managed a breakthrough for Australia
in the 15th over, breaking up the partnership by sending Jamshed packing.
Kamran Akmal followed him back to the pavilion in the very next over, caught out by Cameron White off Starc, and while the next duo up to bat – Umar Akmal (9*) and Abdul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 22) – attempted to keep the momentum going, their partnership was not allowed
to proceed beyond 28 runs. Razzaq fell prey to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 (4) followed in the very next over, granting Starc his third wicket of the day.
By the end of 20 overs, with 6 wickets down and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 (4*) at the crease, Pakistan posted a final total of 149, which their bowlers will need to work hard to defend against Australia's formidable batting line-up.
