Australia v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 backs off-spinner Nathan Lyon’s selection for Sri Lanka tour – Cricket News Update
Citing the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka as great opportunity to gauge the talent of young legs, the Australian national selectors picked up a new-look 15-member squad.
While the step has been appreciated by cricketing circles within http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, it was a shocking decision for everyone to see South Australian off-spinner, Nathan Lyon, making the list, since he has an experience
of just four First-class games.
However, the Aussie skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, who has never seen him bowling, has still shown of a lot confidence in Lyon, backing his selection for the tour of Sri Lanka.
"I haven't seen much of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 with Australia 'A' and I've heard some great reports of his bowling over there. He's certainly got a lot of talent. It's about giving
him a go and seeing how he handles playing for Australia," said Clarke.
The off-spinner earned a place in the side in lieu of his fantastic performance during Australia A’s tour to Zimbabwe. During his visit to Zimbabwe, Lyon claimed 11 wickets in the tri-angular competition,
emerging as the ‘Man of the Series’.
Despite his excellent show with the ball, the 23-old-year player earlier admitted that he was not expecting to be given a chance to represent his country at the highest level.

Since http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330 will lead the fast bowling attack, Lyon will be Australia’s key man in the spin department as the Sri Lankan pitches are expected to favour slow bowlers.
Despite conceding that the islanders are very good at handling spin, the Australian skipper is optimistic to produce good results with different spin options such as Lyon and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949.
"I think we have a good combination. We have a left-arm orthodox (Beer) and a right-arm finger spinner (Lyon). It's good to have two different spinners. As a bowling partnership in tandem I think they
can really work well together,” shared the newly-appointed captain who took over the responsibility after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ricardo-Gouveia-c84824 Ponting’s exit.
