As Australia’s tour to Sri Lanka is around the corner, the visiting side has announced a 15-member squad, including many youngsters in the side, in a bid to develop a winning combination. The South Australian off-spinner, Nathan Lyon, was the most surprising
addition in the set-up since the 23-year-old cricketer has just four first-class games under his belt.
While everyone is expecting a fine performance from the young man, Lyon’s mentor at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Berry-c47842, is confident that the off-spinner will make a fantastic debut at the international stage.  He, however, asked team management to give Lyon
enough opportunities in Test cricket, insisting that the selectors should not discard him like the way they did with many other young Aussies.
“I think that now they've shown their hand and they've been brave enough to pick him ... they've got to give him every chance … not one or two Test matches and then say he's not ready. They've picked him, it's their responsibility now and in Australian cricket
we need to embrace this young spinner and give him an extended run,” said Berry.
The upcoming tour to Sri Lanka will be a very important outing for the Kangaroos as the side has been undergoing a rebuilding process after two consecutive Ashes defeats, followed by the terrible http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011 campaign.
Berry also stated that the selectors should include as many as youngsters in the line-up for the forthcoming tough series as it will give them a chance to judge their strengths and weaknesses.
Although, many cricket pundits within Australia have been expressing their concerns over Lyon’s sudden selection, Lyon’s state coach claimed that the off-spinner has all the potential to be successful at the highest level, adding that the Lyon’s spin variations
will be extremely dangerous for even the best in the business.
"He absolutely has the tools to be successful. He does the rare thing that not many off-spinners do in the current day - he hangs the ball in the air and he has wonderful flight and variation," added the 41-year-old coach who holds an experience of 153 first-class
matches in Australian domestic cricket.
