Australian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, gave the Sri Lankans credit for winning the 9th game of the Commonwealth Bank Series by three wickets. The tourists extended their undefeated streak to three matches and with the win at Hobart they move to the
top of the tables of CB series.
Clarke held that it would be a tough ordeal to beat the Lankans now, considering they have the momentum on their side. He said, “Credit to Sri Lanka, they played a lot better. Sri Lanka have a lot of momentum, and it's tough to beat them.”
Clarke, who was returning to Australian colours after a back injury which forced him to miss two games, played a solid knock of 72 runs. The Aussie skipper along with centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Forrest-c2176 powered the hosts to a massive total of 280 runs.
However, the Lankans chased down the total in a well calculated manner. The Asian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 kept wickets in hand and went for an all out attack near the end to clinch a close victory.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397, Sri Lankan captain, was the protagonist in the visitors win. The veteran batsman continues to make the most of his form as he played a scintillating knock of 85 runs from 81 deliveries. He was declared the Man of the Match for his heroics.
Even though, Clarke was disappointed that the Australians ended up on the receiving end of an intriguing match, the 30-year-old admired how the Lankans went about the chase.
Setting his focus on the next game of the CB series, the Australian skipper said, “Another top game, but unfortunately we couldn't go over the line. Our top 4 needs to work hard, but I thought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 showed us that if you could have
wickets in hand, you can win. Looking forward to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 game”
When asked how was his back, whether he is still feeling any soreness or not. Clarke said, “My back is a bit stiff, but a bit of work with the physio is needed, I will be fine.”
