Sri Lanka have drawn level with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the Commonwealth Bank series - after winning the second of the best of three finals played at the Adelaide Oval by eight wickets. Lankans were chasing an imposing total of 271 but they reached the target with
minimum of a fuss with 5.4 overs to spare.
Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan skipper, was ecstatic after levelling the series. The veteran cricketer praised his sides’ efforts and said that they played in a well organised manner, doing what the situation demanded.
He said, “We batted with controlled aggression today, though we took the extra risk. We looked to break down the target and play according to the situation.”
Australians are currently the world number one side in ODI’s, and beating the top side at home needs some taking. However, Jayawardene and his men seem to have found the formula to tame the Aussies in their own backyard.
In the ongoing CB series, the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 have thumped Australia on four occasions out of the six times that they have faced each other.
Jayawardene believes the only way to defeat the mighty Aussies is to compete with them at all levels, all the time and then handle the nervous moments better than them. “The way to do is to compete with them at all times. You must be able to handle a few
situations better than them,” said the 34-year-old.
Jayawardene said that the Lankans were quite sloppy in the field but luck was on their side, otherwise the Australians could have taken them apart and walked away victorious.
He said, “We were dropping everything. With just four bowlers (in the ranks), we had to pick wickets. It's one of our worst performances of the tour. We can laugh about it now but it would have cost us (the finals).”

The Sri Lankan skipper spoke fondly of Dilshan and his all-round abilities. Jayawardene revealed that it was because of Dilshan’s bowling ability that the Lankans opted to pick an extra batsman in the line-up.
