Australia v West Indies: Adrian Barath replaces http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 for fourth ODI – Cricket News Update
Kieran Powell, the left-handed opening batsman, has been dropped from the West Indian team for the fourth One-day International against Australia – which will be played at Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Friday, March 23, 2012.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-Barath-c886, the 21-year-old cricketer, replaces Powell in the West Indian team. The right-hander has proved his fitness during domestic competitions in the West Indies and his innings of 114 runs against Guyana has paved the way for his selection.
The West Indian Cricket Board (WICB) has confirmed the news. The WICB in a press release said, “Barath has overcome his recent spell of injuries and gave firm evidence of his fitness with a hundred for his native Trinidad & Tobago against Guyana.”
Barath last played for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 2011. There were high expectations from the right-hander but so far he has been a big disappointment. He played in two ODI games scaling just 17 runs.
Powell, who was given an another opportunity to play for the West Indies as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the first three ODI’s. The left-handed batsman failed to provide the West Indies with good starts and
averaged just 6.66 from three innings, with a highest score of just 12.
Even with such meagre starts, West Indies have somehow managed to keep the Australian’s intact. The series is deadlocked at the moment with both sides winning one game each. The fourth ODI will give the winning team an insurance policy.
