http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 vs. Kenya: SWOT analysis of the Australian and Kenyan batsmen - Part 2
Kenya’s batting department relies on Collins Obuya, David Obuya, Steve Tikolo and Tanmay Mishra.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. The injuries forced him to stay away from the game, but he worked hard and established himself as a mainstay of the Kenyan batting
line-up. A solid defence and the ability to launch an attack are valued attributes of 29-year-old batsman.
"He has been a very solid No. 3 for us, and most probably is the best batsman in the side at present. It will be great if he can carry on his form from the previous season," said Kenya’s coach Eldine Baptiste.
Like many other Kenyan batsmen, Collins Obuya also looks deprived of the capability to turn fifties into hundreds. The rapid pace from Australian’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 and Shaun Tait will be a huge threat for him at the early part of the innings.
David Obuya, elder brother of Collins, has been in-and-out of the team since his international debut. However, with some good knocks, he has recently cemented his place in the playing XI. Along with experience, the 31-year-old wicket-keeper is fully capable
of playing attacking cricket.
David Obuya is a little weak with his technique and therefore he has not been consistent with the bat. The Australian pace attack has the capacity to rout his stumps and quick bowling is definitely a big threat for the elder Obuya.
Steve Tikolo is the only player in the Kenyan side that at one time deserved to play Test cricket due to the potential that he has. Tikolo’s best days have gone, but he is still a dangerous player for opposing sides. With invaluable experience, the 39-year-old
player is a dependable character in the team. Tikolo is rock-solid with his defence and a powerful player with capability to hit the ball out of the park. He is also highest run-scorer for Kenya.
"Steve brings so much experience to the side. His mind and eye are still good, but the body has naturally slowed down over the years. He can still be very destructive if he gets in," said coach Baptiste.
Tikolo does not carry the energy he used to have before. The right-hander has the opportunity to use his experience and play a long innings which can put his side out of the disaster.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 born player is a promising cricketer with the quality to fight until the last ball. He is in good form, as he scored a half century in the last game. With a sound technique,
Mishra has a lot of courage to perform against the big guns.
He does not bat at a sluggish run rate and always keeps the score board ticking over. Coach Baptiste commented on Mishra and said, "http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 and busy player, he can improvise and is very wristy. He uses his feet against spinners, and manipulates the singles.
Also, he is a good runner between the wickets."
Mishra has not been consistent with the bat, as he made a steady fifty against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748, but could not perform considerably well in his other two World Cup matches. The 24-year-old player plays spin well, however quick bouncers are a huge threat for him in
the upcoming match.
The Obuya Brothers and Mishra have scored one half century each so far in the World Cup and lacked consistency in most of their games. Against Australia, all of the Kenyan batsmen will have to perform out of their skins to give a tough time to the defending
champions.
