After reaching a good deal of stability towards the end of the 3rd day of the opening test against South Africa at Brisbane, Australia gains control as they lead by 37 runs on stumps at day 4.
Australia resumed its innings on the 4th morning in great style as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978. The South African bowling seemed helpless and
below par as the Kangaroos dominated the crease ruthlessly.
Putting in ones and twos alongside an odd boundary, Australia rushed to the 200-run milestone effortlessly. Cowan reached his century after facing 185 deliveries, further strengthening the batting line up for the Australians. Clarke on the other hand, kept
playing his vital part in the partnership, as the duo added a total of 259 valuable runs to the score card.
Clarke completed his 100 from 210 deliveries and kept going like an unbeatable batting machine. Finally, the partnership between the two came to an end, when Cowan was given run out, courtesy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409, after a magnificent 136 off 257 balls, with 17 boundaries
to his name.
The Mr Consistent, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 was sent in to replace Cowan. Within no time, Hussey was all set and was supporting Clarke at the crease ably. Clarke on the other hand kept scoring and made it to 150 runs from 280 deliveries.
By now, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was in the driving seat as their tally reached 400 with 6 wickets in hand. Hussey kept the score card moving swiftly and soon reached his half century from just 78 deliveries.
Australians were easily able to surpass the 450-run first innings score set by South Africa. Meanwhile http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 conquered another milestone by completing his double century from 335 balls with 19 boundaries.
The South African bowlers seemed completely out of touch as they failed to grab any wicket, while Australia reached the close of the play on day 4 dominantly, at 487-4. Clarke remained unbeaten at a total of 218 runs while Hussey was not out with just 14
short of his 100-run mark.
